FINANCE MANAGER

Create Homes is looking for a dedicated Finance Manager to provide the effective running of the Create Homes Group of Companies Finance Department. Reporting to the CEO, this varied and challenging role will suit a professional with strong finance management experience from a construction/development background, or related industry.

 

Overall Purpose of the role   

  • To manage the effective running of the Create Homes Group of Companies finance department 
  • Ensure that the financial statements are correct 
  • To ensure the effective liaison with external parties and the timely and accurate completion of all statutory returns
  • Assist and support Directors and Senior Management team

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee delivery of company financial timetable
  • Attend and provide check, balance and challenge as appropriate 
  • Development and production of monthly management accounts and contract accounts 
  • Management and Processing of the Monthly Payroll using Sage Payroll
  • Assisting with the preparation of budgets and forecasts and ongoing review of performance 
  • Supervision of the accurate recording of all transactions into the accounting records
  • Helping external auditors with the preparation of the Annual Accounts 
  • Control of Chart of Accounts
  • Cashflow management
  • Management of reservation fees, extra’s & deposit payments
  • Management and processing of completion statements and liaising with legal partners accordingly
  • Preparation & presentation of Management Accounts and Finance Reports 
  • Analyse overhead variances and exploring potential problems with relevant parties
  • Assist the Directors with the preparation of year-end accounts 
  • Assisting with the preparation of long-term financial plans (as required)
  • Create and maintain Fixed Asset Register
  • Preparation of financial reports, reconciliations and supporting documentation 
  • Monitor Trade Creditor balances
  • Managing invoices and Sub Contractor payment advice returns 
  • Supplier statement reconciliations and payments
  • Verification of Subcontractors for HMRC status
  • Management of Petty Cash returns, Company Credit Card transactions and Personal Expenses 
  • Continuous improvement of processes and accounting principles
  • To prepare monthly PAYE and quarterly VAT returns for all associated companies
  • Reconciliation of Monthly and Annual CIS returns.

 

MANAGEMENT

  • Annual appraisals and objective setting/assessing training for finance team
  • Provide support to other departments on any financial needs and/or issues.
  • Health and Safety
  • Comply with and promote effective health and safety procedures in your work

Assistant Site Manager, Preston

 

Purpose: Ensure new homes and development is built to required quality, on time and on budget.

Position Typically Reports To: Project and / or Construction Manager

Contract: Full time/perm

• Chair subcontract site meetings and produce meeting minutes.

• Develop and maintain good working relationships with design team/client and supply chain.

• Protect company contractual position with site surveyor.

• Developing the tender programme into a construction programme.

• Agreeing with the managing Surveyor the site overheads and wastage.

• Working with the SHE Department to produce the Project Health and Safety Plan.

• Working with the Site Manager and Surveyor to produce the Sub contractor Procurement Schedule.

• Protecting the company’s interest via correspondence to the Design Team and sub-contractors.

• Assist Project Manager in producing MIRS.

• Run / attend Technical / Defect Workshops.

• Organise or run Toolbox talks.

Construction Buyer - Full-time, Permanent

Residential House Builder Create Homes is looking for an ambitious, dynamic and experienced Buyer/Procurement Specialist to join our team. This pivotal role will play an important part in the profitability, growth and success of our growing business. 

 

ROLE PURPOSE

You will use your knowledge, business acumen and wealth of contacts to manage the end-to-end buying process, negotiating and assessing products & suppliers to gain commercially viable solutions, in order to maximise profits and minimise timescales. 

  • Manage all material procurement activities, providing an effective service to the Create Homes business in terms of price competitiveness, specification, and supply performance on a multi-site basis.
  • Sourcing quality suppliers to create consistent supply capability which is aligned to business demand and brand aspirations
  • Negotiation of material and plant hire costs, payment terms and best value, minimising cost and maximising quality
  • Managing the supplier relationships relating to sales service, technical services, aftercare and accounts processes
  • Overseeing the programme of deliveries on time and on budget in accordance with the site programme and site teams requirements
  • Provide feedback to key colleagues on cost, quality and availability of materials

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years relevant buying experience
  • Good working knowledge of procurement for the house building or construction industry preferred
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, Word, Excel, Outlook etc
  • Experience of managing and negotiating with multiple suppliers
  • Experience of researching building materials
  • A related construction qualification is desirable
